Malissa Hunt

Malissa Mae Hunt, 68, of Wamego, Kansas, passed away on Thursday (August 24, 2023) in Wamego, Kansas.

Born June 26, 1955 in Manhattan, Kansas, Malissa was the daughter of Hal S. and Leona Mae (Hause) Hunt.

Malissa was a 1973 graduate of St. George High School and attended Manhattan Technical College. In 1979, she began her career at McCall Pattern Company where she worked for 39 years until her retirement in 2018.  Malissa then became a para educator for the Wamego School District No. 320 at Central Elementary School until 2021.

Malissa was a member of the Wamego United Methodist Church, Daughters of the American Revolution (D.A.R.) and the GEMS Genealogy group. Her great joys in life were bowling and camping.  Malissa was an avid bowler and was currently serving as an officer for the Kansas Bowling Association.  She loved camping, traveling across the country as a member of the Coachman Camping Club and her more recent trips to Branson.  Malissa had a special place in her heart for her pets, especially her Siamese cats.

Survivors include three aunts, Lila Flinn of Wamego, KS, Florence Flinn of Manhattan, KS and Marlene Flinn of St. George, KS; many cousins and her camping, bowling and work families.

Malissa was preceded in death by her parents; and several aunts & uncles.

 Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 11:00 at the Campanella & Stewart Funeral Home in Wamego with Rev. Alex Rossow officiating.  Burial will be in Wamego City Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday morning from 10:00 until the time of services at the funeral home.
